The project comprised three buildings integrated to form a substantial headquarters building with an overall area in excess of 98,000 m2. The buildings incorporated four Tier 4 data centres and two substantial trading floors suitable for circa 1,800 traders.
The engineering design included two separate MV electrical supplies from different sub stations and standby generation supporting the whole building load on an N+1 basis. Multiple UPS installations were installed, synchronised to ensure a no break supply was always available. Electronic static switches allowed flawless transfer between supplies.
Plant efficiency was an important consideration and mechanical and electrical plan was designed on a modular basis to allow for future load growth.
