• Hatton Cross Hotel, Heathrow, UK

Hatton Cross Hotel is a new six storey development consisting of 583 bedrooms with associated dining and conferencing facilities. The site is predominantly affected by noise from aircraft arriving at and departing from Heathrow Airport which influenced the external facade design.

Passive design features were incorporated with energy efficient plant including a CHP unit to meet the domestic hot water loads. An open loop ground source heat pump is proposed to provide the heating and cooling demands of the building. The proposed strategy resulted in 6.2% improvement on Part L 2010 CO2 emissions. The ground source heat pump system is likely to save around 4% of the annual CO2 emissions.
