Part E of the Building Regulations requires pre-completion testing to determine the airborne sound insulation (speech, music) and impact sound insulation (footfall) standards that have been achieved between residential dwellings.
The exact number of tests required is at the discretion of the presiding Building Control department, but typically testing is undertaken on 10% of the dwellings in a development.
All Hilson Moran acoustic consultants are fully accredited by the Association of Noise Consultants for Building Regulations Part E pre-completion testing.
Airborne and impact sound insulation testing is undertaken in full accordance with the rigorous requirements of the Association of Noise Consultants, BS EN ISO 140-4: 1998 and BS EN ISO 140-7: 1998.
Our various UK locations allow us to respond quickly to testing requests, whilst our sophisticated measurement equipment and post-processing programs result in test reports being issued shortly after the tests are undertaken.
In the event of a failed test, we are able to identify the likely cause of failure and provide remedial advice.
Robust Details are an alternative to pre-completion testing, on which Hilson Moran Acoustics is also able to advise.
