As a graduate, master’s, or early career consultant, your main responsibilities are project design and delivery. As you progress, you’ll develop the competencies necessary to support projects and deliverables, beginning to gain exposure and experience across a number of disciplines, sectors, and geographies while working towards your chosen professional registration.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and undertake noise and vibration measurements to support group projects.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all noise and vibration measurement equipment, oversee their upkeep, and coordinate periodic calibrations.
  • Conduct acoustic calculations and evaluations required for the successful delivery of group projects.
  • Produce clear, concise, and professional reports within project timelines and in line with Hilson Moran’s standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and external parties to help deliver projects of varying sizes and complexity.
  • Actively pursue personal and professional development opportunities, utilising support from the business as needed.
  • Identify and contribute towards improvements of standard calculations and reporting practices of the Group.
  • Develop strong working relationships with team members and other Hilson Moran disciplines.
  • Refer complex or contentious issues to the Head of Acoustics and support their resolution as necessary.

We’d like to hear from you if you have

Background & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Honours degree in Acoustics (preferred but not essential) or,
  • Bachelor Honours degree in an Acoustics-related subject (e.g. Physics).
  • A working placement with a commercial, related Acoustic Consultancy (desirable)
  • Basic knowledge, from research, of the content of the work of an acoustic consultancy.
  • Detailed knowledge of the fundamental mathematics behind acoustic principles.
  • Basic knowledge of the fundamental units and principles relevant to acoustic consultancy.
  • Basic knowledge of the relevant standards/codes of practice, etc. relevant to acoustic consultancy.
  • Experience of using noise and vibration measurement equipment.
  • Experience of acoustic modeling programs (e.g. CadnaA noise mapping, CATT-Acoustic room acoustics modelling).

Skills:

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Excellent planning and organising capability.
  • Logical, ability to prioritise with good multitasking skills.
