Graduate Air Quality Consultant

We are seeking to employ a Graduate Air Quality Consultant in our Manchester or London office.

We are seeking an exceptional Graduate to join our Infrastructure & Environmental team and develop a career within Air Quality.  The successful candidate will sit within a well-established team delivering consultancy and advisory services to internal and external clients. The team work on a wide range of multidisciplinary consultancy projects in the built environment in the UK and overseas for public and private sector clients. Projects vary from small scale residential / commercial schemes to large scale mixed-use masterplan developments, shopping centres, power generation facilities, waste facilities, and football and sports stadia in the UK and overseas.

Your Responsibilities will Include, but are not limited to:

As you develop working on live projects, you’ll begin to demonstrate and build a track record aligning your responsibilities with the following.

  • Project planning from initial instruction to delivery.
  • Ensures projects/reports are delivered to the highest technical standards.
  • Prepares air quality assessment reports that are appropriate and comply with relevant legislation, policy, guidance and the client’s brief.
  • Support the preparation of fee proposals.
  • Engage and coordinate your work with others in the design team to ensure the delivery is to the highest standard and aligns with the project requirements.
  • Extends your ability and is interested in acquiring new skills and techniques.
  • Drive your Individual learning plan to develop your career.
  • Actively seek feedback on performance and implement improvements from your line manager and others in the project team.
  • Be an active member of our next-generation forum.
  • Participating in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Engaging with other in-house disciplines and business units.
  • Contributing innovative ideas and solutions to improve design processes and outcomes.
  • By fulfilling these responsibilities, a design consultant contributes to successfully executing projects and helps clients achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively.

We’d like to hear from you if you have

Background & Qualifications:
  • Have a degree or higher degree in an environmental discipline, and preferably hold a relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience in consultancy would be advantageous.
  • Have a broad knowledge of air quality legislation, policy and guidance.
  • Have a broad understanding of the current air quality outlook, air quality policy, regulations and guidance.
  • Knowledge of EIA, air quality dispersion modelling, indoor air quality and building certification standards such as BREEAM, LEED and WELL would be advantageous.
Skills:
  • Have the ability to plan, problem solve and develop the skills required to complete detailed dispersion modelling exercises using ADMS and GIS mapping tools.
  • Have the ability to process large quantities of measurement data.
  • The ability to work with other technical specialist’s e.g. acoustic consultants, services engineers and other environmental impact specialisms.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning and organising capability.
  • Logical, ability to prioritise with good multitasking skills.
  • Work within high levels of confidentiality and diplomacy.
  • Comfortable working both in a team and independently.
  • Empathetic and understanding, but positive and able to support others.
