Principal Electrical Engineer

We are seeking to employ a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team in our Farnborough office.

Based in the Hub, a repurposed, art deco departure lounge, our Farnborough teams work internationally on project from across all sectors, from luxury hotels to some of the biggest and most exciting new stadia in the world.

We are seeking to employ a proactive and enthusiastic Principal Electrical Engineer to join our expanding team in Farnborough.

You will deliver your design services within a diverse and challenging range of design projects. Your project range will vary, demonstrating experience across a range of different scales, complexity, sectors, and geographies.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide the highest technical and quality standards in all design deliverables. This includes thoroughly reviewing design documents, specifications, and drawings to identify and rectify any discrepancies or errors.
  • Assist with the delivery of large complex and niche projects on time and to the highest technical standard.
  • Collaborate closely with your project team and lead the implementation of quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations and the client’s expectations are aligned.
  • Be a key interface with clients, understanding their requirements and aligning them with the project goals.
  • Address quality-related concerns and ensure that all project milestones are met with the highest precision and accuracy.
  • Develop a network of contacts within the industry and with clients.
  • Ensure your professional development is aligned with the institute’s requirements.
  • Assisting with the development of fee proposals and presentations.
  • Support your team with quality control on projects, ensuring that the company’s quality assurance and compliance standards are upheld and adhered to in accordance with the business management procedures.
  • Working with the Project lead to evaluate project challenges, identify and develop solutions for new projects, mitigate risks, and develop opportunities in the future.
  • Review all calculations/specifications and drawings to ensure they are appropriate and comply with the client brief.
  • Conduct performance assessments, provide constructive feedback, and identify skill gaps and opportunities for learning & development as a line manager.

Background & Qualifications:

  • Have experience of commercial (new build, refurbishments and fit out), residential and mixed-use developments.
  • In depth knowledge of Building Services Engineering Systems including their performance, application, and operation.
  • Knowledge and skills to minimise risk of design-related legal or regulatory issues.
  • MSc or BSc in Environmental or Engineer discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 14001
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies.
  • Analytical skills to influence the drive for continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of sustainable building design, renewable and low carbon technology.
  • Knowledge and skills to minimise risk of design-related legal or regulatory issues.
  • Understanding of estimate project budgets and resources required.

Skills:

  • Proficient with solid communication skills, including presentation skills for internal and external meetings.
  • Utilise technical skills to implement more technically demanding projects.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in required software.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems efficiently.
  • Effectively manages time and priorities. Ensures that information presented to your key contacts within your team meets an appropriate standard and is within the allocated timeframe.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders through professional communication and responsiveness.
