Fiona Batha joins NLA Expert Panel for Retrofit & Conservation

Hilson Moran is proud to announce that Fiona Batha, Associate Director within our Environmental Buildings team, has been appointed to the New London Architecture (NLA) Expert Panel on Retrofit & Conservation.

The NLA Expert Panels, established in 2020, bring together leading professionals from across the industry to provide thought leadership, advise on programme topics, and respond to new policies. The Retrofit & Conservation panel plays a critical role in supporting the New London Agenda, focusing on innovative solutions for sustainable urban development.

Fiona’s appointment to the NLA Expert Panel is a testament to her leadership in sustainable design and her ability to influence developers, clients, and industry stakeholders to adopt more sustainable construction practices. As part of the panel, she will contribute to shaping policies and research that address the challenges of retrofitting and preserving London’s existing building stock. This includes adaptive reuse strategies, extending the life of historic structures, and reducing the carbon footprint of the built environment.

As a BREEAM Accredited Professional and a Chartered Engineer (MCIBSE), Fiona’s experience includes the delivery of award-winning retrofit and renovation projects that balance innovation with sustainability, demonstrating the potential to preserve valuable heritage assets while reducing carbon emissions.

We also recognise Associate Director Carolina Caneva, who will be continuing in her role with the NLA Expert Panel on Planning. Carolina joined this Panel in May 2024, where she has been focused on driving best practice in the planning system to support London’s development, including new approaches to community consultation; accessibility and transparency of data; and the role of local and regional plans.

We congratulate both Carolina and Fiona on their recognition and look forward to supporting their contribution to the NLA’s important work in shaping London’s future.
