Hilson Moran is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Smith as a Design Director, based primarily in its Manchester office. With over 30 years in the industry and extensive experience across Hilson Moran’s core sectors, Andrew will spearhead the Northern Growth Plan for the business, driving growth and strengthening client relationships across the North of England.
Andrew joins Hilson Moran with a wealth of experience in environmental engineering and building services, including operational buildings and experience across the broader built environment.
Throughout his career, he has led high-impact projects across hospitality, retail and leisure, commercial and workplace, industrial and logistics, further and higher education, as well as in the mixed-use and retrofit sectors. Notable achievements include his work on the Kingsway Retail Park regeneration project in Rochdale, delivering Etihad Airways’ 12-storey headquarters and numerous high-profile cinema developments across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
As Design Director, Andrew will work closely with Hilson Moran’s current leadership and operational teams to expand Northern operations, build new capabilities, and establish robust partnerships with clients and fellow consultants.
Commenting on his new role, Andrew said: “I am excited to lead Hilson Moran’s efforts in the North, building on our strong foundations and advancing our commitment to Net Zero Carbon design solutions. I strongly believe that by embedding sustainable practices within engineering solutions from the outset, we can foster accountability and help our clients achieve their environmental goals more effectively.”
Outside of his professional life, Andrew is an avid golfer, tennis enthusiast, skier, and dedicated chauffeur for his daughter’s hockey, ice skating and other activities. His culinary skills, while not currently Michelin-rated, receive rave reviews from friends and family alike.
