Hilson Moran strengthens Infrastructure and Environment team with two key Appointments

Hilson Moran has announced the appointment of Alastair Atkinson as the new Head of Infrastructure Planning. With over 30 years’ of industry experience, Alastair brings with him a deep understanding of integrated infrastructure strategies to support the development of vibrant, sustainable places that meet long term community, climate and stewardship needs.

Alastair will be working to provide holistic infrastructure solutions for our clients, integrating his successful track record in placemaking and natural resource management to support our net positive places philosophy and ensure future communities can be delivered today.

Alastair has previously taken on global leadership roles for projects across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In the UK Alastair sits on a number of advisory panels for climate change and net zero strategies, as well as acting as the Sustainable Drainage lead for the Thames Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, which sets the direction and spending priorities for 20% of the population of England.

Alastair is joined by Jay Stirrett, who has been newly appointed as an Associate Director in our Infrastructure and Environment Group. Jay has market leading expertise in the planning, design and procurement of utilities infrastructure and will be focused on the delivery of some of the UK’s largest regeneration projects, garden villages, towns and cities. Jay is also highly skilled in untangling and de-risking the construction of large buildings in constrained urban environments.

Both Alastair and Jay will be key to support growth across our wider Infrastructure and Environment group, who are currently working on some of largest urban regeneration and placemaking projects across the UK, including Meridian Water, Silvertown Quays, Barking Riverside, Ebbsfleet Garden City and Cardiff Bay Peninsula.

Speaking about his appointment, Alastair said “I am passionate about using the built environment and placemaking to create meaningful outcomes for communities. Helping both clients and communities to understand – and crucially to implement – the changes necessary for the journey we all need to make to become a truly sustainable world.”

Jay said “I am thrilled to be joining Hilson Moran and the Infrastructure Team at such an exciting time. I’m relishing the opportunity to apply my experience in utilities infrastructure to provide a first-class standard service to our clients and building on our client base to help grow the Hilson Moran business”.

Jason Horner, Management Director for Infrastructure and Environment at Hilson Moran said “Getting the best people is critical to Hilson Moran as a best in class consultancy. I am delighted that we have got two of the very best people – our utilities infrastructure, environmental infrastructure and net positive placemaking services are immediately enhanced and our mid and early-career consultants will harvest the benefit of their vast experience”
